【展覽】2021/22國際紙纖維藝術雙年展－蛻

「2021/22國際紙纖維藝術雙年展－蛻」，呈現來自世界各地紙纖維藝術的精采作品。展覽突顯天然纖維與回收人造纖維的多樣性，透過藝術家在技術上與概念上多元迥異的轉化，回應今日的全球環境危機。

英文「Transfiguration」（中譯為蛻）一字定義為「型式或外表的全然改變，進入更美好或靈性的狀態」。因此我們要提問：由於多數人認為自然是神聖的，我們是否可能從自然中取材，並創作出比原始狀態更美好或更靈性的藝術呢？本展以擲地有聲的「YES！」回應此一叩問。參展藝術家藉由繁複多變的纖維創作過程，重新詮釋材料，帶入內容、想像與精神，創造出全世界獨一無二的作品，擁有內蘊之美與情感力量。

「當代構樹－反應製作者的靈與魂」展覽，著重藝術家尊敬造紙傳統，運用構樹纖維進行創作，並以個人創意增添當代意涵。

「變化－⼈類世的纖維地景」展覽，則將造紙置於二十一世紀的脈絡中演繹，強調藝術家運用天然纖維，結合從塑膠到金屬等回收人造纖維，透過紙創過程開展我們與自然界之間的對話。

2021/22 Biennial International Paper Fibre Art: Transfiguration

The works showcased in the biennial exhibition provide a wonderful selection of paper fibre art from around the world. The exhibition highlights the versatility of natural fibres and recycled man-made fibres, which have been transformed by artists in very different ways, both technically and conceptually, in response to today’s global environmental crisis.

The term transfiguration is defined as “a complete change of form or appearance into a more beautiful or spiritual state.” So, the question must be asked: Is it possible that one can take something from nature, which many of us already consider to be divine, and produce art that is somehow more beautiful or spiritual than its original state? This exhibition responds with a resounding “Yes!” Working with a myriad of fibres, these artists have reinterpreted the materials, bringing their own content, imagination, and spirits to produce something unique in all the world with its own inherent beauty and emotional power.

“KOZO CONTEMPORARY: Reflecting the Soul and the Spirit of the Maker” showcases artist paper makers who use Kozo fibre, respect traditions and add a modern touch with their individual creative expression.

“CHANGE: Textured Landscapes in the Anthropocene”. This exhibition puts papermaking in the context of the 21st century. The artists used natural fibres combined with recycled man-made fibres and other materials, ranging from plastics to metal to create a dialogue between us and the natural world, through papermaking.
